June 28: "Gardening with Native Plants - The Tour" --sponsored by MAEscapes and the Penn State Extension Agency - an Outreach program of the College of Agricultural Sciences. 3nearby locations in York(from 9:00-5:00 ) and a special tour at Heartwood Nursery in Felton of the recently preserved (through the York County Natural Lands Trust ) wooded area and farm. This walking tour will be approximately 1.5 hrs long and given by owner Sue Hunter at 10am and 2pm.

Sue will be speaking on soil types here at Heartwood's highest protected area (& south-central York Co.) and the symbiotic relationship with the corresponding, thriving native plant communities; and plant ID. How different micro-climates play a role in different macro-habitats. Ilex opaca (American Holly) as a threatened species in PA, causes & preservation of local, indigenous communities)
Special displays including Bees, Butterflies, Birds, and the selling of native plants at ALL tour locations.
